Course Description
The Certificate in Education and Training (CET) is an entry-level qualification for those who aspire to become teachers or trainers in the further education and skills sector. This course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to effectively deliver education and training.
Throughout the course, you will explore a range of topics that will support your development as a teacher or trainer. These topics may include teaching and learning theories, lesson planning and delivery, assessment and feedback, classroom management, and inclusive practice.
The CET course is designed to be flexible and adaptable to suit the needs of each learner. Whether you are new to teaching or have some experience, this course will provide you with a strong foundation in the principles of teaching and learning.
Upon completion of the CET course, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to teach or train in a variety of settings, such as schools, colleges, community centres, prisons, and workplaces. You will also have the opportunity to progress onto further qualifications, such as the Diploma in Education and Training or the PGCE.

Open Curriculum allows access to our course materials for missed presentations and tutorials, as well as assignment submission, feedback facilities, and online discussions between students and tutors using discussion seminars, etc. - What qualifications will I get?

The course is modular and consists of a selection and mixture of units.
12 Mandatory units and 8 Optional units for the Certificate pathway.

Entry Requirement
Entry requirements for the Certificate in Education and Training (CET) programmes include;
- A minimum of 60 hours of teaching assistant experience
- Level 2 skills in English or Mathematics (or Level 3 if they intend to teach/support literacy or numeracy)
- Technical competency in literacy, numeracy and ICT for certain units
- Non-academic requirements such as a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service Check) and a declaration of any criminal convictions.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- English is the base language of study.
Assessment
There are two parts to the assessment for these qualifications:
- Multiple-choice questions – 50 questions each unit; 1-hour duration.
- Project/assignments – a production through STARR reporting formats (Situation, Tasks, Actions, Results & Reflections).
What is the progression route?
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates are awarded a CET (Certificate in Education and Training) and may progress by direct-entry to the Diploma or PGCE course. Candidates may equally exit to employment and do well vocationally.

All students are required to pay the following fees:

- Online/Distance Learning fee: £599 for up to 6 months
